CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund for Fall 2020

미주장신은 연방정부로부터 학생들을 위한 특별 Emergency Grant를 새로이 배당받을 수 있었습니다.

COVID-19으로 인해  어려움을 겪고 있는 가을학기 등록 학우들 중 영주권 이상의 학생들은(학사 & 석사 과정)

연방정부의 Emergency Grant를 신청할 수 있습니다.

해당학생들은 아래의 신청서와 기타 양식을 작성, Financial Aid Office (Fsa@ptsa.edu)에 제출합니다.

이미 신청서 양식을 제출하신 분들은 다시 제출하지 않아도 됩니다.

Applications have now opened for the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) grant from the CARES Act

for emergency financial assistance if you experienced COVID-19 related expenses.

This is a grant that does not need to be repaid and will not affect your future financial aid eligibility.

This grant is available only for eligible student, funds are limited and awarded on first-come, first-served basis.

A student who submitted an application to the office already does not need to apply.

All currently registered Fall semester students (undergraduate & graduate) who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, such as a GED, or have completed home school through the 12th grade.


• Must be working on an approved degree that is at least 24 credits in length.


• Must be a U.S. citizen, or permanent resident.


• Must not be in default of a federal student loan or owe a repayment of a federal grant.


• Must register with the Selective Service if a male, and at least 18 years old.


• Must have at least 2.0 cumulative GPA if a continuing student.


• Must be registered at least 3 units for the Fall Semester, 2020.

Funds are limited and PTSA does not guarantee that every student who is eligible will receive funding.

Process

• Students can use application form and Verification forms (see the attachment) and submits it to FSA office. (fsa@ptsa.edu)


• A male student has to submit the Selective Service Verification (see the attachment).


• Students file FAFSA. ( https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa)


• Financial Aid Office might ask to submit verification document.

Q & A

If I receive funds, what can I spend them on?

Students may choose how they wish to spend the funds. The school will not tell students how to use the funds they receive.

Do the funds need to be repaid?

No, the funds do not need to be repaid.

Can this funding reduce my financial aid?

No, these funds are exempt from the maximum financial aid amount students may receive.

Is there a deadline to apply?

Funds are limited. The sooner students apply the more likely they are to receive funds.
