Title IX is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discriminationon the basis of sex, includingon the basis of sex stereotypes, in education programs and activities. All colleges and universities that receive federal funds must comply with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972,20 U.S.C. §§ 1681 et seq. and its implementing regulations, 34 C.F.R. We are committed to maintaining a culture of respect.

Because harassment, including sexual harassment, is prohibited by federal and state laws,PTSAstrictly forbids harassment of any kind, and will swiftly take appropriate action to addressany violations of this policy. Harassment is any verbal (can include verbal taunting, includingracial and ethnic slurs) or physicalconduct designed to threaten, intimidate or coerce.

Harassing conduct may take many forms, including verbal acts and name calling; graphic andwritten statements, which may include use of cell phones or the Internet; or other conduct thatmay be physically threatening, harmful, or humiliating. Harassment does not have to includeintent to harm, be directed at a specific target, or involve repeated incidents.

Harassment createsa hostile environment when the conduct is sufficiently severe, pervasive, or persistent so as tointerfere with or limit a student’s ability to participate in or benefit from the services, activities,or opportunities offered by school. When such harassment is based on race, color, national origin, sex, or disability, it violates thecivil rights laws that the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces.

Students or employees who believe that they are, or have been, subject to any behaviors orconduct that can be classified as gender-based violence, harassment, stalking or any of the broadrange of behaviors directed at the victim such as actions that harass, frighten, seriously alarm, threaten, terrorize, torment, and/or force another into the life ofthe victim, should immediatelycontact ourTitle IX Coordinators:
